Collaborative Communication

In this presentation, you will learn about different forms of communication to help you effectively advocate for your loved one. This includes: What are the different forms of communication? What’s the difference between active and passive listening? How does collaborative communication help me? How do I incorporate this information when meeting with teams to understand and effectively advocate for necessary services for my loved one?

Effective Parent-Teacher Conference

Having a parent-teacher conference is an opportunity to collaborate with the goal of a better academic and social outcome for the student. This presentation will explain setting expectations for the meeting and developing a meeting agenda and goals to help facilitate a productive meeting.

PEN Academic Summit 2023

Becoming a Wave Finder on Your Voyage of Special Education and Beyond

Our conference aims to foster an environment of learning, collaboration, and empowerment. We understand that navigating the educational landscape for a child with special needs can be both rewarding and challenging. Therefore, we have curated a diverse range of sessions and workshops.

We will also host an IEP clinic throughout the day, where you will have the opportunity to ask specific questions regarding your child’s IEP. Registration is needed for the IEP clinic.

The conference will feature experts in the field of special education who will share their insights and strategies. Additionally, you can connect with fellow parents and caregivers who share similar experiences, building a network of support and camaraderie.

We firmly believe that informed families are better equipped to advocate for their children’s needs and aspirations. By attending this conference, you will gain practical knowledge, tools, and inspiration to help your child thrive in their educational journey.

Free lunch and a $50 gas card will be provided to anyone from north of Stock Island.
