Effective Parent Teacher Collaboration

Workshop Summary
Having a parent-teacher meeting is an opportunity to collaborate;
the parent and teacher need to set expectations for the meeting and come with ideas and open communication. Laying out the meeting agenda and meeting goals then sticking to them will help facilitate a productive meeting. We must remember like an IEP meeting our overall goal is the student.

Transition to Kindergarten

Soren Richardson will be presenting the workshop ‘Transition to Kindergarten’.

“Transition to Kindergarten” is a dynamic and interactive workshop that helps children with disabilities transition to kindergarten along with their families. By addressing the common questions and concerns that come along with this important step in the lives of families, “Transition to Kindergarten” will help families understand their rights and responsibilities as active participants in the process.

Best Practices for Inclusion

Jeanne Petit, our parent training coordinator will present this workshop:

This presentation will explore inclusive education, including the definition, key components, and evidence-based planning and instructional practices to promote meaningful access to a general education classroom” with “meaningful access to the least restrictive environment and peer relationships and support in inclusive classrooms.

Alternate Dispute Resolution on Facebook Live

Jeanne Petit, Parent Trainer will present this workshop: Sometimes parents disagree with the school district about something related to their child and special education. When you disagree or feel that the school is not meeting its legal obligations, there are several ways for parents to resolve these disagreements. It is usually best for everyone involved to work out differences at the lowest possible level with the least amount of conflict
