All about the apps on Facebook Live

Jeanne Petit will present this interactive workshop: No matter which hurdles your child faces, apps and other media included in this presentation can give him or her an added boost. We don’t expect an app to be a complete solution, of course. Working with students who face challenges requires lots of time, attention, and patience on the part of a parent, teacher, or other adult caregivers. Our goal is to offer you a host of fun apps you can add to your toolkit as you work with your child.

Supporting Youth: Navigating to Adult Healthcare

This webinar is for Youth and their Parents/Caregivers to learn about transitioning from pediatric to adult healthcare!
There are significant differences between adult and pediatric health care models. Pediatric care is family oriented and relies on parent involvement in decision making; adult care is guided by the patient and requires independent skills of the patients. Healthcare transition is important for all youth, and it’s important to be prepared.

Nuts & Bolts of Self-determination

Soren Richardson will present the workshop on Thursday, February 16st, 2023, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on Zoom and live in CFAC Facebook group.

Register in advance to join zoom and ask questions after the workshop.

Workshop summary

Students who have self-determination skills have a stronger chance of being successful by addressing the need for self-determination skills among adolescents, including some of the major components of self-determination, which are: knowledge of self and others, personal management, effective communication, self-advocacy, and Advocacy within systems, decision-making, goal setting & problem-solving. These experiences help a young person test his or her strengths as a self-advocate. Adult outcomes for the students were assessed using a scale completed by parents.

FND PEN is hosting a series of webinars with the Central Florida Autism Community on the last Thursday of every month. We will have a wide variety of topics related to special education, advocacy, and self-care.
