A Social Story can be a written or visual guide describing various social interactions, situations, behaviors, skills, or concepts. These were introduced and described by Gray and Garand (1993). They help teach children and youth appropriate skills, such as prompting, joining-in behavior, sportsmanship, how to maintain conversation, skill acquisition, how to respond to cues, and how to describe settings.
