Florida Family Engagement in Education Month

November is Florida Family Engagement in Education Month. This are some materials that we have created to help the families we serve.

We have joined the Florida Department of Education to celebrate November as the Florida Family Engagement in Education Month. The proclamation was done by our former Governor, Rick Scott, recognizing family involvement as a critical part of student’s success from preschool to college. The proclamation highlights as well the importance of making education a central part of family life so parents and educators can work together and provide each other mutual support.

Among the many resources offered by the Florida Department of Education to commemorate this month, we have chosen simple tips to help families connect with their children through the more simple and natural way: reading.  This series is available in English and Spanish on our Social Media pages for free download and was created based on these Reading Tips for Parents.

We want to also take the opportunity to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for the honor of serving people with disabilities and their families in Florida for more than 30 years. We are grateful to be a part of a wonderful community of individuals committed to the full inclusion and success of people with disabilities.

We hope you find these resources helpful. Don’t forget to follow us on social media and subscribe to our blog to keep up with new materials and relevant information.
