Strategies for Meeting the 1% Cap on Participation in the State Alternate Assessment | Webinar

(2017, April)Useful to: Policy makers working within the confines of, or striving to meet, the 1% cap for AA-AAAS

In April 2017, the National Center for Education Outcomes (NCEO) hosted a webinar to provide technical assistance regarding the 1% cap on participation in an alternate assessment aligned with alternate academic achievement standards (AA-AAAS).

Over the course of the webinar, three main talking points were covered:

  1. Reviews of requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) regarding the cap on participation in AA-AAAS
  2. Descriptions of the provisions in the regulation for requesting a waiver from the cap
  3. Suggestions for strategies in meeting the cap

In addition to these main points, the webinar highlighted an NCEO-developed brief on the topic.  Read the brief online at: https://nceo.info/Resources/publications/OnlinePubs/briefs/brief12/brief12.html
