Parent Centers can share this online module with students with intellectual disabilities and their families as part of exploring the possibility of going to college.
Think College! provides self-paced modules using multimedia tools such as videos, publications, interactive learning activities, and podcasts to share information on topics related to postsecondary education for students with intellectual disabilities.
This module provides information to families who want to learn more about the possibilities for their sons or daughters with intellectual disabilities to attend college. The module describes college options, identifies how college is different from high school, discusses the changing role of families once students are in college, and offers strategies for families and students on how they may navigate those differences. The module also outlines ways to prepare for college and how to choose a college that will be a good fit. Options for how to pay for college are discussed, and families and students will be able to check their understanding with a quiz.
