AI-Presented Nuts and Bolts of Self Determination and Skill Building

We know that students with self-determination skills can be voice their needs for assistance and accommodations and, in general, live more successful and fulfilling lives. We will address the major components of self-determination: knowledge of self and others, personal management, effective communication, speaking up for one’s needs, declaring one’s disability when appropriate, navigating within systems, decision-making, goal setting, and problem-solving.

Learn ideas on how we can help prepare our littles to think, weigh decisions, express their preferences, and have a strong voice. Inclusion and self-determination begin with us at home. These experiences serve to help a young person test his or her strengths as a self-advocate and will ensure that they have a voice going forward in life.
