Online Workshop Part 1 – Parents As Leaders

FINDING SUPPORT TO CREATE SUPPORT
FAMILY S.T.A.R. and PARENT EDUCATION NETWORK (PEN) will assist families who are considering starting their own support group by providing a framework of how to begin. These presentations will review different models of support groups to consider, examine what aspects of each model are a good fit for potential members, uncover the world of online groups, and explore advocacy from its various aspects in order to build capacity.
PART 1 – How to start and sustain a parent support group
Support groups are one of the things that provide a
sense of comfort for families and their loved ones with
disabilities. They provide a sense of kinship, a safe
place to learn, and an opportunity to help others.
They help build those important social connections. This workshop will give you the tools to empower your journey to begin a support group.
