The Rights of Students with Disabilities: Parts 5 & 6

Workshop Description:

Part 5 – The Power of Parent Participation:

One of IDEA’s principles is the right of parents to participate in educational decision making regarding their child with a disability. In this workshop, participants learn how very specific IDEA is concerning what school systems must do to ensure that parents can participate if they so choose.

Part 6 – Procedural Safeguards:

IDEA establishes procedural safeguards to help parents and students enforce their rights under federal law. Participants will learn how these safeguards protect parental access to information pertaining to the placement and transition planning, and the procedures that are put in place to resolve disagreements between parents and schools regarding the placement of a student.

Please note that these workshops are delivered via Facebook Live. Part 5 will begin promptly at 4:00 pM. Part 6 will be delivered immediately following Part 5 after a brief break.
